Baby Nutrition Policy
1. In our institution; Unless medically necessary, babies are encouraged to be exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months.
2. Midwives and nurses help the mother to start breastfeeding as soon as possible after birth. Breastfeeding is encouraged whenever the baby wants it.
3. Mothers are advised to breastfeed whenever and wherever the baby wants.
4. Unless there is a medical need, babies are not given food or drink other than breast milk.
5. In our hospital, postpartum mothers are given breastfeeding training every day by doctors, nurses and midwives. During the training, mothers are informed about how to breastfeed and how to express and store milk when they are separated from their babies.
6. Breastfeeding the baby is explained by showing the mother the appropriate breastfeeding technique in practice.
7. In our hospital, families are informed about continuing breastfeeding until the age of 2 and beyond.

Mothers are given the contact information of the people they will contact at our hospital and are informed about the procedure so that they can continue breastfeeding after being discharged from the hospital, solve any problems they may encounter, and check up on their babies and themselves. 10. Based on the international law on the use of breast milk substitutes recommended by the World Health Organization in our institution, all kinds of advertisements, promotional brochures and distribution of free samples regarding supplementary nutrition are prohibited in our hospital.
11. Our institution has breastfeeding rooms where mothers can breastfeed their babies comfortably.
12. A baby whose development is normal and who is fed only with breast milk can be given additional food starting from the 6th month.
13. When giving supplementary nutrition to babies; Soft, mashed and liquid foods can be given between 6-7 months, lumpy and mashed foods can be given between 7-8 months, puree-like foods mashed with a fork between 8-12 months, and all easily chewable foods can be given from 12 months onwards.
